Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Wrongful termination

My spouse was terminated from his employment because his employer heard that he was looking for another job. My spouse responded that he had offers all the time. His employer that said I heard that you are going to work for XYZ Company. My spouse replied that that was a possibility. His employer asked why and he said because I have to look out for my future and you have not done what you said you would do. He then (the employer) said you can't work here anymore here's your final checks and someone will show you off the premises. He then called in all the supervisors that worked for my spouse and told them that since he was looking for another job he was fired. He then told the office staff that he was fired for looking for other work. Then today the employer contacted my employer (my spouses company is a big customer of the company I work for and wanted me dismissed. My employer told him that he would not be told how to run his business and he siad he wouldn't tell me the rest of what my spouses ex-employer said.

Do we have grounds for legal action?

Re: Wrongful termination

What he did to your spouse was legal but what he tried to do to you is not. However, it does not appear that you were damaged by the action so a lawsuit would not go anywhere. If you did lose your job over it then you would have a good case.
