Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

I am about to move out of my apartment and the management company that run the complex are notorious for racking up charges left and right, and really sticking it to people who move out. What can I do to protect myself?

I would suggest making a written request for a walk-through just before you leave. Keep a copy. Also, have a friend take date-stamped photos of everything before you leave as evidence of the condition in which you are leaving the residence.
