Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

I put my money order in the mail to pay my rent on the first of the month. Now all of the sudden the manager of the building calls me and tells me that the rent hasn't been paid yet. The money orders are either lost, stolen, cashed, misplaced I don't know. The manager says I am facing a serious trouble. What can I do??

Take you receipt and see about getting the money order replaced. Report it to the police.
