Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Our son let his girl friend stay with him in a house on our property, We didn't know she was staying their. When we found out she was told to leave. She throws a temper tantrum, says she going to sue us and we gave her permission to stay. She finely left but left all her stuff in the house and said if we touch it she will sue us. She has been gone for about 2 or more weeks. they left us with about $1000 in utility bills that we cant pay because we are on a fixed income. They never payed rent or anything else the money that did come from their was what keep us afloat . We cant get her stuff out of their to rent it because she haired a jerk attorney that will sue us if we dispose of her junk, what can we do

I think your best option is to treat her as a former tenant who has abandoned property. My guess is she has not really hired an attorney, otherwise he would be telling her to get her property out. Myosin can send her notice and you can charge her for storage.. This offsets rental costs but you can move it elsewhere as long as it is safely kept...

Use the link below it has good information on how you can do this...she cannot expect you to keep her stuff forever... By following the law you will be protected...

I may be able to help you with some of this without much cost...
