Legal Question in Legal Ethics in California

When applying to a country club for social membership, will the board of directors take in to consideration a past bankruptcy (Chapter 7) that is over 10 years old, and blackball that person? And how does the board get the legal information regarding bankruptcies on potential members? Isn't this considered personal info?

Bankruptcy information is a matter of public record, although most people don't go to the trouble or expense of looking for it. The private country club can screen its potential members.and can be as selective as it wants.
