It seems like you are only dealing with a fee dispute as opposed to legal malpractice. If you have a fee dispute with your attorney, the local bar association has a fee dispute arbitration procedure that you can follow. You should immediately notify your attorney you are disputing his fees and request fee arbitration.

Please allow me to introduce myself. I am a appellate law specialist with substantial experience in family law appeals. That means, in part, that I frequently deal with family law attorneys who have bungled the case and/or overcharged their clients. I also volunteer as a Fee Dispute arbitrator, and so I have experience in fee dispute arbitrations and I am very familiar with billing practices and the legal standards for ethical and proper billing.
