Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in California

My fiance had a visit to an Endocrinologist early last year for her PCOS. They ran a number of tests to measure PCOS, thyroid and other hormonal irregularities. Before meeting with this doctor prior, our primary medical staff Sharp, had ran similar tests such as thyroid and other blood work, all of which were normal except for her PCOS, thyroid was stable. Later that year, she sees the Endocrinologist, as mentioned before and the tests described were ran. The endocrinologist however did not follow up with her to inform her that her Thyroid level was above 200 which is considered severe and can lead to cancer. A whole year she suffered with constant stress, emotional grief, tiredness, lack of sleep, weight flucuations, common colds taking longer to heal than normal. Even with PCOS which has many of the same symptoms, we never saw the extremity in them as we did in the last year. She just found out today that her Thyroid was way above normal by her primary doctor and she told us that we should have been informed by the Endorcrinologist. This has caused alot of issues for herself and us this year when this whole time she could have been managing this situation. We look for counsel on this issue and would like to know if we have a case of medical neglect.

While she might be able to demonstrate care 'below the expected standard', what are her medical and financial damages as a result? IF she can obtain a medical 'expert' opinion that there was both malpractice and substantial provable damages, then she can consider making a claim. Her first stip is in seeking such opinion. Neither her opinion, nor mine, are relevant. If she thinks she can obtain that, feel free to contact me to discuss the case.
