Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

A friend of mine is being sued for defamation for making a couple of statements on numerous blogs against another blog by the Bogside Artists who are making accusations JK Rowling. My friends statements are backup by sources and resources that he believes that are evidence but I dont know they are argumentative or not. The plaintiff on the other hand has no sources or resources that can live up as reasonable evidence.

The plaintiff also complains that my friends Storm Fighters and My Top 10 Favorite Anime/Manga Character blogs are also attempts to defame them.

Here is one of my friends blogs:

Here is one of the plaintiffs blogs:

So my questions are that who has the better chance of winning the case? How much a problem if the plaintiff cant prove or have sources to back his own statement that my friend is attacking? If not then can my friend as a defendant can use the plaintiff's accusations against them? As for my friends sources, will the court will have to go through all of them, even though it might take a more than few days (if not a few weeks) to go through all of them or will the court will find a way to short the sources down much as they can?

Other than talking to a lawyer, what is your advice going against a defamation case with these kinds of situations?

"Other than talking to a lawyer," there is NO good advice.

No amount of free 'tips and hints' from here or elsewhere are going to effectively help in a complex litigation. If you don't know how to represent yourself effectively against an experienced attorney intending to get a judgment, then hire an attorney who does, who will try to get a decent outcome through negotiation, motions, or take it to trial if appropriate. If serious about hiring counsel to help in this, and if this is in SoCal courts, feel free to contact me. Ill be happy to help fight the case and get the best outcome possible, using whatever defenses there may be.
