wife was bitten by a dog

my wife was bitten by a dog. dog was not on a leash. my wife was carrying my 5 year old son. there is a little puncture on my wife's leg. Police have seen this all happen and was the one to chase the dog away. Owners of dog did not have dog registered with the city, but states that shots were updated. Is there anything we can do?

Re: wife was bitten by a dog

You can sue in small claims court. Recovery up to $7500. This should be adequate unless your wife was more severely injured than your post lets on.

Yes, you can sue in Small Claims Court.

You may want to read California Civil Code 3342. which states the California "dog bite" law.

You can file a claim against the owner's insurance. You may want to contact a personal injury attorney in yoru area to see what the case may be worth. You should be able to get a free consultation.
