Eviction or buy

I've rented this place for 8 1/2 years now. Have been a good renter until I demanded my LL make some much needed repairs. Instead of repairs, he gave me the option to buy or move out. I like to buy, but he is asking way too much money for what it is. Well, I've received the Eviction papers and have answered. Trial is next week. What can I do?

Get ready to move. There is no good defense that I can see unless the repairs amount to what is called a breach of warranty of habitabiltiy under Green v. Superior Court. You may want to consult an attorney to defend you. As long as you are willing to pay rent in the interim, he should be able to get you a continuance of the trial date.
