Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

What are my rights if any?

I moved in with my boyfriend whose mother is his landlord. She wants me out of the house and is threatening to evict him because of me. She has obviously been to an attorney because she's told him I am classified as a ''squatter''. We plan to just go ahead and get married. How would this change this situation if I legally become his wife? What are squatter's rights if any?

If you can prove that you have taken up residence at the home than the mother must serve you with a 30 day eviction notice before she can start eviction proceedings (unlawful detainer) against you. Getting married may change her mind but bottom line is that she can evict you from the home if she wants!!
