Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in California

Does an accused "harasser" have any rights?

I have just been notified that I have been suspended for a 2 week period due to a "report of inappropriate behavior, which includes verbal and physical harassment towards a female employee".

I have been denied any information as to who the CP is, where, when, how the offence took place. I was not contacted by my company and permitted to respond to the charges.

Do I have any rights?

Re: Does an accused

First, look at the company policy regarding harassment. It should describe an investigation procedure, which should include receiving information from the charged party.

Under some circumstances, failing to properly investigate may leave the employer exposed to a claim by both the charged and charging party.

If the employer doesn't have a harassment policy, some effort to provide your side of the story (which requires at least some info regarding the allegations)may be helpful.

If the allegations are serious, you may want to retain counsel.
