Legal Question in Traffic Law in California

Does the officer have to appear in court?

I was recently issued a citation for running a stop sign. I have been given a court date. If the officer does not appear, will the case be dismissed?

Re: Does the officer have to appear in court?

The officer must appear in court and testify. The court may continue the case at least one time to allow the police officer to come to court. The Nolo Press book "How to Fight Your Traffic Ticket" would be helpful to you in preparing and presenting your case.
