Ticketed for going flow of traffic

Dear Lawguru,

I was wondering, I reciently got a ticket for speeding on the fwy, going 80 at 11-11:30 at night, which the flow of traffice was about 75-80, how can i contest that i wasnt speeding, when infact the flow of traffice was the same speed.

You did not violate the Basic Speed Law (VC 22350) because you were going at the same speed as the rest of the traffic. You did violate the 70 MPH maximum state speed limit. You could go to traffic school, or fight the ticket (read the Nolo Press book Fight Your Ticket). Maybe the judge will buy your explanation, or even better, maybe the cop won't show up.
