probate

Is it better to get a Lawyer in the county that the property is located ? Am I responsable for long distance calls and travel expenses? If so I need a probate Lawyer in Calaveras County CA. DEBBIE

In my opinion it is only crucial to have a local attorney if it's likely to be a contested probate (i.e. family "contesting" the will or something like that). In a normal probate everything is done by mail/phone and the attorney (nor the Executor) ever appear in person in Court. My firm does probates throughout California including Calaveras!
