Re: divorce

In British Columbia, assuming that there are no children and no child or spousal support issues, and no issues about dividing assets, a divorce will cost you about $1,500.00 and a name change following about another $300.00. Of the $1,500 about $500 or so is expenses paid to various governments and other necessary costs and the remaining $1,000 is about $850 professional fees and taxes (GST/PST) on the professional fees and on some of the expenses. This is extraordinarily good value, considering that for the average wedding in North America the couple spends US$30,000.00 - and this is in a situation where everyone gets along! If there are children and/or spousal support or property issues or course the cost outlined above does not apply.
