if i was going to be getting divorced can i cancel my

spouces medical insurance that i pay for prior to the divorce?

Generally, no. If you have already filed for divorce in Colorado, you may not cancel the insurance until the divorce is over. The exception is if you have her permission, in writing, or you have a court order allowing you to do so.

If you have yet to file, you probably can. However, I caution you against taking that course of action because it may be held against you in another way. For instance, the court may order you to put her back on or order you to pay maintenance in the amount that it will cost her to get her own coverage.

Overall, it's not a good idea to take her off your medical insurance until the divorce is over.
