Legal Question in Immigration Law in Colorado

My abusive (mentally, physically) husband does never want to apply for me to become a legal resident. There is not much food and no money that he provides me with. On top of that he wants me to pay his bills and multiple debts working as an escort or something like that. What should I do or say to him to help my situation. people in shelters that I have been told me that I most likely have to married to him for a year and stay together in terms to obtain my green card.Thanks.

If you are legally married to him, and he is a USA citizen or lawful permanent resident, I might be able to help you to get a Green Card without his help.

It seems to be a clear situation of domestic abuse, where he manupulates you into submission, financial and sexual exploitation, etc, and on the top of that refuses to help you to get a legal status in USA (a green card).

If you are out-of-status or illegal, and he refuses to petition for you -- it doesn't matter how long you will remain married to him -- you will not become eligible for a green card unless he petitions (applies) for you. The solution to this problem could be a self-petition under federal VAWA law. I specialize in this type of cases and work nationwide.

I offer legal consultations and can assist in matters of the U.S. federal immigration law to clients from all 50 States and internationally. If youd like to schedule a confidential telephone or email legal consultation, need legal advice or help, please let me know and Id be glad to help you.

Contact email address: Attorney [@] law-visa-usa.com or LubaSmal [@] yahoo.com . Or you can TEXT a request for a consultation with an Attorney to 1-402-238-1238.

Note: The above response is provided for legal information purposes only and should not be considered a legal advice; it doesnt create an attorney-client relationship. If you would like to request a follow-up confidential advice on your specific situation and regarding U.S.A. immigration-related issues, we can offer a paid consultation by telephone or email to clients from all States and globally. If financial means is a problem as your answer indicates, you may want to try contacting some local Denver Colorado help services. They may be able to provide free or reduced cost legal services. They can counsel you on how to submit a self-petition under the VAWA provisions of the law that the previous attorney mentioned.

With reduced income, you may also be able to seek a fee waiver. But I would consult an attorney.

The following resources should be consulted:

Best of luck.
