Legal Question in Construction Law in Connecticut

Suing my Contractor

My wife and I started a small claims suit against our home improvement contractor regarding negligent work and a bunch of other stuff. He hired an attorney and had the case transfered to a regular court and it was approved. I was laid off in November and had my hip replaced 01/06/09, and can't afford an attorney to represent me. Do I have to hire an attorney to represent me or can my wife and I represent ourselves? I'd like to hire an attorney but I can only afford maybe $500-600.00, do you have any suggestions?

Re: Suing my Contractor

First off, you do not need an attorney to represent you in the matter. However, given the fact that he has retained counsel and strategically had the case transferred to the regular docket it would be wise to seek professional help.

I would be willing to offer you and your wife a free consultation regarding your issue. Please contact me at [email protected] to discuss the matter in more detail.
