Re: what is dui and dwi?

Dui is driving under the influence of alcohol (or other substance)... May be below the legal limit.

Dwi I'd driving while intoxicated, meaning your blood alcohol content is above the legal limit.

Re: what is dui and dwi?

DUI and DWI are acronyms that stand for "Driving Under the Influence (of alchol and/or drugs)" and "Driving While Impaired" or "Driving While Intoxicated." Some States have different criminal statutes for DUI and DWI, the elements of the offenses can be different.

In Connecticut, we have only one criminal statute, Illegal Operation of a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol and/or Drugs (C.G.S. 14-227a). Therefore, in Connecticut if someone referes to DUI or DWI, there is no difference under Connecticut law.
