Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut

Are grandparents legally financially responsible fo support of child born to a m

My daughter is 17 years old and has a baby born two months ago. The baby's father is 16 years old. Since the baby's birth I have financially taken care of her. In the beginning they (the paternal grandparents) stated that they would help with medical insurance and child care, but they never have. I finally was able to acquire Husky for medical since I could not put the baby under my insurance at work. My brother who is disabled has taken care of this baby so that I can go to work and my daughter can go to school peacefully. Starting this coming Monday the baby will be in Day Care which I will pay. Is there any way that the paternal grandparents can help me financially, since I will now have to declare bankruptcy to be able to afford this? I did ask them if they would help me pay at least the Day Care and they stated--No.

You need to file a paternity action with the court and get a support order for the child.
