Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut

joint custody

I am a single mom w/my 5 yr old daughter lives w/me. Her father was seeing her up to about 7 months ago and has not paid court ordered support in almost 2 years. Her father is now seeking joint custody. What power does that give him? And how can I stop him from getting joint custody?

Re: joint custody

Child support and custody are two distinct issues. Do not blend them. You should go to your local support enforcement office and they will pursue the support arrearage. You have to file a motion objecting to the joint custody stating your reasons. Hope this helps. Best.
