Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Connecticut

ex-boyfriend

I have an ex who has lived with me for about 3 years out of the seven that I owned my house - I want him out - we have broken up and he is taken his sweet time - what do I have to do do make this happen fast - what are my choises - do I owe him anything- Does he get to stay - do I have to evict him - what steps can I take to make sure he doesn't screw over my house and what is the fastest legal way to get him out of here?

You would need to proceed with an eviction. Housing Court is not a do it yourself process, necessarilly. there are a lot of fine points to the law that pose traps for the unwary.

I should point out that if for some reason, your ex has become abusive, you can always apply for a domestic restraining order and force him out that way. (you dont need to have been married for that law to protect you) He would have ahd to hurt you or in some way caused you to fear for your safety.

That would be the only other way out of your situation, assuming he doesnt leave on his own.

You cant just change the locks...
