Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Connecticut

I live in CT, what happens if, on a rental agreement, there is a beginning date but no ending date? Is it considered month to month, an ongoing lease agreement, or defaulted to 1 year?

In Connecticut, unless the rental agreement fixes a definite term, the tenancy is month-to-month except in the case of a tenant who pays weekly rent. If your agreement has a beginning date but no end date then this is probably a month-to-month lease. If your agreement is month-to-month then the rent is paid on a monthly basis and the lease will continue without a final date until the landlord or the tenant ends it.
