hired to protect me,did they ?

I had divorced in 1996,I hired a lawyer to represent me,protect me/my child/my rights. as it turns out Now,my ex-husband failed to pay mortage on a house given to him as part of the divorce, the lawyer i had did Not notify the tnen Bank-Mortage company of this transfer of property ,nor the town (quick claim deed).Now i'm part of a forclosure action by the bank...is the attorney who i hired responsible/liable for not doing the job ? Thats why i had a attorney to protect and represent me..do i file bar grievance or court action ? it turns out, in small print in mort.note that transfer,than new qualifying income statement to be made out by reciever... my attorney did nothing of this at that time..HELP !

The fault is that of your ex, not the attorney. No one has the ability to remove your name from an existing mortgage except the mortgage company, and they have no reason to do so and almost always won't. Your husband failed to make the payments and you are on the mortgage, so you got sued. You, in turn, have a cause of action against your ex, but your attorney is not responsible for the mortgage you entered into prior to your divorce.
