Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Connecticut

Home Ownership

I have had my house for 6 years. I bought it with an ex-girl. Both names are on the mortgage and the house. She has not been around for those 6 years and made no payments. She will not sign over a quick claim because she feels entitled to get half the house. What can i do to force her to make half the missed payments or get her name off a different way?

Re: Home Ownership

Attorney Subbloie is correct. You need to file a partition action. If you would like a free consultation, we are available. 203.521.4915

Re: Home Ownership

You need to file a "partition action." If she won't agree to settle it the court will order a sale. You can not be forced to stay as a joint tenant. At the trial you will present evidence that shows you made all the payments and she shouldn't get anything.
