Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Connecticut

Mechanic's lien was placed on my house by a contractor who did some work for me. Can I pay it to get it dismissed? Can I be charged additional late fees and attorney fees?

It depends on a whole bunch of things. First of all, the lien is on your house. Did the contractor comply with the Home Improvement Act? Maybe he's not entitled to the lien. Second, does your written contract with him provide for interest and attorney fees? If not, he can't get either. Is the lien a judgment lien (one that he filed after he won a lawsuit) or a mechanic's lien filed within 90 days of the last time he worked on the property, but before a lawsuit was filed?
