Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Connecticut

Satellite Dish on My Condo Roof

A neighbor has had a dish installed on the roof of my townhouse unit. The executive board approved his request to have it mounted on his roof but the association president altered that approval to my roof because he could not get reception on his own. There are five units in our building.

My concerns are any damage I may incur as a result of this installation (leaks causing damage including mold issues, etc), and devaluation of my unit's resale value, especially if more dishes are allwoed to be installed on my roof by other unit owners. I've been told the roof is common property but where is that line drawn? Shingles? Plywood sub-roof? Rafters and insulation????

Re: Satellite Dish on My Condo Roof

You would have to look to the bylaws to determine what is considered common property and what is your property. You always have the right to challenge the association's decisions as well.
