Legal Question in Workers Comp in Connecticut

injured knee, on worker's comp, can i sue?

I hurt my knee at work apx. 9 months ago. They approved the surgery a few weeks ago, and I just had the surgery a couple days ago. The doctor says I may have permanent damage, because I didn't get the operation soon enough. Can I go after worker's comp? or do I have to go through the insurance company providing the worker's comp.?
