Legal Question in Medical Leave in District of Columbia

Can I apply for FMLA so I can change my shift at work to accommodate me taking care of my wife who need my care during the shift that I'm currently on.

Yes!. The FMLA allows an eligible employee to alter their current schedule by use of leave on an intermittent (or reduced) leave schedule until their 12-week entitlement is exhausted.
