Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Florida

Bankruptcy Law pertaining to TAXES

March 27,1997 I received a "Discharge of Debtor" from the US Bancruptcy Court, Tampa Division. On October 11, 1997 I received a Notice of Levy, my checking account was on hold. I contacted the IRS and was told that I could not discharge the taxes because I did not file returns for the years claimed,1991 and 1992. The IRS did my tax returns and were sending me tax bills for over three years.

The Final Notice was sent to me on July 7,1997, I returned the Notices with a copy of my Bankruptcy paper ( Case No. 96-17838-887).

Please advise what my optiions are?

Discharge of IRS liens

It is very hard to discharge an IRS obligation. If you did not file the returns, you probably do owe the taxes. You have to have filed, and a period of time has to have passed (I believe it is still three years) in order to be able to discharge. Consult a lawyer with the specific facts if you want a direct answer.
