Legal Question in Business Law in Florida

Immoral Business Practices

I work at a medium sized engineering corporation in FL that focuses on government contracts. Not too long ago some collegues and I discovered that two individuals in our department were stealing intellectual and tangible property for use in a private organization they developed. Our company has a strict policy forbidding any type of conflict of interest as well as stealing. We brought this matter to our manager. One by one we were interviewed by the VP of the legal department and given the utmost confidence that this matter would, ''remain confidential'' and, ''never be traced back to [us].'' Several weeks later we were all called to a meeting WITH the individuals that we implicated! This meeting request basically pointed the finger at who did the squealing.

Although stealing from a corporation is unacceptable, stealing from our corporation means stealing from the government because they furnish most of the equipment we use. My company exonerated the two individuals because of ''lack of hard evidence.'' I believe that they did not properly investigate and shunned the incident aside because it was easier to do. Is there anything that I can legally do in this situation? I believe the government should be informed as well as the board.

Re: Immoral Business Practices

I do not know the answer but contact the following attorney who would know the answer. It sounds like you may have a cause of action under the Whistle Blower's act but he is more familliar with that area of the law than I am, and could better advise you. Good luck.
