Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Power of Attorney

My mother-in-law came to live with us 15 months ago. We signed Power of Attorney papers. This past Christmas she tried to commit suicide and we put her in an assisted living home. She has left the home, against our wishes, to live with her daughter in Texas and left behind bills from the home. All she has is Social Security, over $2,000. Are we responsible for her debts?

Re: Power of Attorney

If you made arrangements for her and agreed to pay the answer is yes. If the arrangement was that they would only look to her for payment the answer is no.
