Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Child's Name Change

I was never married to my son's father so when my son was born I gave him my madian name. Now my son's father is insisting that I change his last name to his and says he will keep taking me to court until he gets it changed. Is there a law that protects me from changing my son's last name or will I eventually have to change his last name from my madian name to his father's last name? My son is 6 years old now and I he tells me he doesn't want to change his last name he likes it just the way it is.

Thank you for your time,

Jessie Hollen

Re: Child's Name Change

You fail to indicate if paternity has been legally established. I doubt a court would force a name change.
