Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

My estranged wife of six months filed a simplified divorce with property in West Palm Beach under the guise that she can't find me. However, she has my email and cell phone number. I have not been served with papers. She recently filed for a motion for default. Is this illegal? What can I do? I found out through the West Palm Beach Civil Court database.

If the default has been entered try to get it set aside. If not yet entered, you will need to file an Answer to the Petition that she filed and ask for a copy of all documents. You may need an attorney to assist with these filings especially if trying to set aside an already entered default. Make sure to attend any scheduled hearing.

You should file your response with the Court asap to protect yourself from a default. If she knows where you are it is not proper for her to do that.
