health insurance

In the divorce decree it states that I(mom to one daughter) am to pay for health insurance. Divorce was in 2003. In 2004, he agreed to add her to his health plan. Now he has changed his mind and wants me to cover her. I agreed but told him the amount of support he pays will increase if he discontinues paying for health insurance. He refuses to increase support and has filed a motion for civil contempt. I just received notice that this case has been referred to General Magistrate.

What will happen at this meeting? Should I have a lawyer if I I want support payments to increase? I know I am legally bound to provide health insurance but he agreed verbally and has willingly paid it for the past 4 years--until now. Can he require me to pay this money back?

Yes, you do need a lawyer, because technically you are in contempt. At the same time, you could probably petition for an increase in child support. contact us if you need further assistance.
