Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

I was married on 7/4/09 in Florida, and filed taxes for my first time as a married filing joint. Shortly there after, i received a notice from the IRS that they are taking a portion of that return to pay for my spouses back owed child support eventhough he is unemployed and has been for years. I even filed a injured spouse form, which i thought was so that I was not responsible for any of his debt. Can they now garnish my wages since I am the sold provider of our household even though his children are from a previous marriage?.

Because you filed jointedly, yes they can take your money. In the future , file married but separate then they can not. As to garnishing your wages - no they can not.

I would recommend you contact your Congressman, from your ZIP code I think it is Bill Posey. I do not believe the Family Court can offer any relief.
