Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Visitation & Name Change

After two years I get notified that I am the father

of a two year old boy .. Naturally I take the required tests to find out for sure .. The tests come back 99.9%, or something, that I am the Father .

We go to court and I am required to pay Child Support,

and Arreage .. No problem with that ...

I would like to see my son and have him get to know me, and me know him ... She lives three hours away, but I'll do what I have too ..

Second question : What ? Or how hard is it to have his last name changed to mine, since I was not present when he was born ?

Re: Visitation & Name Change

Since you are the father, you have the right to request and get visitation. Part of the Paternity action (finding out who the father is) is to determine child support and to provide a vistitation schedule. Be sure this schedule is made. The name change is a little more difficult. You can request it and see what happens. You can also request that your name be put on the birth certificate as the natural and lawful father. Then you will need an amended birth certificate.
