Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

72 Hours per week! Is that legal?

My husband works for a car dealership and was just informed that he has to be on the salesfloor from 9:00 A.M. - 8:00 P.M. no exceptions! Are 11 hour days for 6 Days (66 hrs/wk) allowed or disallowed by any employment laws regarding working hours? Note that he is strictly on a commmission basis only. Thank you for your speedy reply.

The specific type of job that your husband has is not covered by the overtime law (but rather is exempted), meaning that his employer is not required to pay him overtime compensation even when he works more than 40 hours per week. Additionally, there is no Federal or Florida law that caps the number of hours per week that salespeople in car dealerships can be asked or required to work.
