ex employees rights to review his personel file

i was terminated from my employeement after 26 years. i would like to know if i have the right to review my personel file. my ex employer is refusing my reqest to do this . do i have any options?

Believe it or not, under Fla law your personnel file is the property of the employer and you have no right to demand to see it. If you don't like this, call you state senator and state representative and tell them to change the law.

Why were you terminated? If they don't want you to see your file, there may be something damaging in there.

One way you can get try to get your file is apply for unemployment compensation. If it is granted and they appeal it, you can ask the agency to subpoena your personnel file for the hearing. Likewise, if your unemployment is denied you need to appeal it and you can also ask the agency to subpoena your file. Good luck.
