Financial disclosure

Is it legal for my apartment complex to ask for copies of my bank statements? I qualify for a low income rent and I feel I should just give my Social Security disability statement for the year. I also received monies from my Mother's estate and do they have to know about that. Unfortunately, I was away when I received it so I just put it in my checking account to hold till I could do something with it.

If you received enough money from your mother's estate, you do not qualify for low income benefits. If you just got a check for $750,000 then you'll need a more traditional rent payment.
