Legal Question in Personal Injury in Florida

My homeowners ins. co went out of business

I recently had a lawsuit filed against my wife for assault and battery for damages after we already paid the medical bills for the other party. They filed just shy of the 4 yr statute of limitations. The homeowners ins I had back then went out of business and my current homeowners ins company says they're not responsible. Where do I turn for help?

Call the Florida Department of Financial Services. CONSUMER HELPLINE 8776935236

Your former insurance company can not close out business in the state without issuing a bond for outstanding and potential claims. If the company was bankrupt then they are in receivership and the state will have the information you need to file a claim.
