Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Florida

legal FL resident serving outside FL on military orders...

We are a military family and we are seeking to prepare a will. We are legal FL residents, residing outside the state on military orders. We were planning to comply w/ FL law regarding drawing up our will, but we wanted to make sure that we are correct. It would be difficult to try and comply with a new locality every few years regarding our will. It makes sense to do a FL will. Are we correct?

As Kely Papa stated, a will from one state is usually good wherever, as long as it is legally valid in the State where executed. If I were you, I would go to your base legal assistance office to have wills (and other suggested documents) prepared, rather than paying a civilian lawyer to do it. If the legal assistance officer has some question about Florida law, (s)he can always call a legal assistance officer or civilian attorney in Florida with questions.

Wills really do not vary much from state to state, and then the variance usually references # of witnesses and certain nomenclature. You should be fine with a Florida will.
