Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Adoption

My husband and I have temporary custody of our two grandsons. The mother abandoned them when one was 2 and the other was 1. She has never been involved with these boys, but now that they are 9 and 10, she wants to come and get them. She never did anything the temporary custody papers stipulated or anything. She has an older son that was molested by her step brothers as well. It has just been very lucky that these boys were with us. If we try to adopt them do you think that a judge with her deprivation and abandonement would ask that she go on a plan to get these boys back? Just this past Christmas she confessed of still doing drugs and getting away with it. She has now claimed that she is afraid of the boys father and that the boys should not be here since he lives with us. Since she has no reasonable cause, other than being the mother, she is using this as an excuse; eventhough she wanted to get back with the boy's dad. Can anyone get away with this injustice? Is there justice for these boys that depend on us for their best interest? She has never paid or bought these boys anything. She has really never cared for them; all she cared about was to be with her boyfriends one right after another.

Please help someone!
