Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Child Support Modification help

Just wondering if someone can give me a good estimate of child support

This is a modification.

My ex is seeking the modification. She wants more money. Just wondering how likely it will be that a judge will take all of this into serious consideration.

Here are the basic facts:

Original support order is $550,monthly.

Original was granted in 2003.

Since then, yes I make more money, But

Since then I have also been engaged to my fionce for going on 4 years now. Have been living together as a family since Jan 2006.

We have one son together, born late 2006.

Fionce also has a child from a previous relationship and although the birthfather has been ordered to support. He mostly doesnt. She has not recieived anything for child since Dec.2008. Childs father has not had anything to do with child since 2002, other than the child support he is way behind on..

I have a much bigger family to support now, but will the judge see it this way considering we are not ''married'' and I am not the other childs bio father or havent adopted him??

I currently make around 3900 monthly.

Thanks for any help.

Re: Child Support Modification help

Not being married to your fiance could hurt you with the judge. It may also make it harder for you to claim expenses for your own child. It also looks bad since yopur relationship is illegal.

The state child support calculator is online. Use it to get an idea of what usually will happen. Then, if a case is filed, get a lawyer right away.

Not only the facts that mentioned need to be looked into, but other matters as well. Consult with a local attorney.
