Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

My husband filed for divorce on October 5,2010. He coerced me into signing over custody of our son. I get visitations every other weekend. I was scared because he kept threatening me and my mom. I know I made a mistake, but I really don't know what to do. I want to try to take him to court and get joint custody so our son can be with both of us equally.

OK, do you have a question? My recommendation would be to hire a Georgia family law attorney to consult about your options. If you would like to ask a specific question, please feel free to resubmit with more facts and you may receive a more specific answer.

It doesn't do much good to complain about an outcome after the fact, but start with the fact that you were NOT coerced.

Buit there is good news. If the case was filed October 5, 2010 it is not over yet, although it could be over in a couple days. On the first thing Monday morning, retain a lawyer. It will be expensive but you may still be able to fight what you agreed to. You cannopt delay. A divorce can be granted starting 31 days after filing, and since your 31st day is on a weekend, you can still file pleadings Monday morning. You should be on the phone starting at 8:00 AM Monday. I repeat you CANNOT delay.
