Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

I got married in NY and live there now, I am moving to Georgia and want to file for divorce. Should I file in NY or file in Georgia?

Many factors enter into that decision including whether the case is uncontested or not, if you have children, where those children are, if you have property and even what county you will live in. Those are all things to discuss with a lawyer.

An additional point to consider is that Georgia has a six month residency requirement before you are allowed to file for divorce in this state. So unless your spouse already lives in Georgia you would have to wait out the six month period after your move.
