Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Guam

Unclaimed Property

My Father Walter G.--name removed--passed away in 1976 in Okinawa. He had property and businesses in both Guam and Okinowa. He was in partnership with Charles Corn in Guam who passed away july 1975. I am trying to locate any unclaimed property or monies.

Re: Unclaimed Property

Hi:

You should check with a Guam title insurance company and have them search the land records for property in your father's name. You could also engage an attorney to do that, but it would probably be more expensive. If he was in a business, you should check with the Dept. of Revenue and Taxation to see if the business is still in operation. If he was in a corporation, you could also check if the corporation is still in operation or has a business license.

If you father owns property here, you should engage a lawyer to probate the estate and have the property either distributed or sold.
