Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Illinois

Is the city negligent for not plowing snow

During our recent snow storm here in IL our city called off plows, I understand that. However, when they did plow they left the streets worse than a washboard. They had plenty of warm days to clean them up but didn't. Now my car is out of alignment and it feels as if something else is wrong, i.e. struts, wheel bearings. Is the city negligent for such damages? How do I get them to pay up?

Re: Is the city negligent for not plowing snow

Hello. Acts of nature such as a snow storm prevent lawsuits in certain situations. You

could file a lawsuit as a taxpayer, but in my

opinion the first move your city attorney would

make would be to dismiss the lawsuit because the

damage to your car resulted from an act of nature

and not as a result of negligence on the part of

the city. Think about this carefully. Consider

all of your options. Will be happy to answer any

additional questions you may have.
