Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

summons

I recentlly moved I had been living with my Mother a man stopped to serve me with a summons but when my Mom told him I had moved he left and my Mother 2 days later found the summons waded up and thrown on the ground . Is this legal and do I have appear if I didn't personally get served?

It would be interesting to see if the process server claims he served you. Some counties have this information online. If he claims he did, a default judgment will be entered against you if no one shows up for court. Of course, if he claims he did, and he actually did not, he would be in a bit of hot water, to say the least. You need to discuss this with an attorney in your area.
